Day 4 - Favourite Book

I've been thinking about this one all day and I have decided that it is impossible to narrow it down to just ONE favourite book. I read so often, and there are so many good books out there that I can't just state that one book is my ultimate favourite.

One book that I have read recently that I absolutely loved the Audrey Niffenegger 's "The Time Travelers Wife." I know this book got a lot of mixed reviews, but I personally loved it. I found it so interesting, I couldn't put it down. I think I finished it in 3 days because I was constantly reading. It's probably one of the best books that I have read in a long time and that's saying something because I read a lot.

So "The Time Traveler's Wife" is my favourite book at the moment, but it's bound to change as I continue to read. If we are talking classics, the kind of books that I could read again and again and never get bored I have two options.

1) Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird." I read this book for the first time in grade 10 English and I absolutely loved it. Lee has such a eloquent way of talking such a brutal topic to make in interesting for any reason. I remember reading in the paper about a year ago that schools were talking about banning this novel from the curriculum because of it's content and I was outraged. Covering up the issue is in no way solving it, and banning a classic novel is a crime.

2) Charles Dickens "Oliver Twist." I think I read this book for the first time in highschool for a book report, and only picked it up because it sounded the least boring book on the list......and that was the beginning of an addiction. I love this book. I have read it way too many times to count. I believe I am taking a course next year where I will be required to read it again....and I will....even though I have read it so many times that I could probably stand up and recite it for you. I can't explain why I like this book so much, I just do.

So Day 4 complete. I apologize for not narrowing it down to one book, I did try....but I just couldn't.

Day 3 - Favourite Television Program

This is going to be a quick post, but I`m actually doing it which makes me proud of myself.

My favourite television show changes by season, but currently I am addicted to Dexter

I had heard so many things about this show but never really bothered until a friend of the family gave me the first season and insisted I tried it. I watched one episode and that was all it took, I was hooked.

It is such a great idea, with an awesome storyline. It is creepy, interesting, amusing and thrilling all at the same time. I occasionally find myself so grossed out that I`m tempted to turn it off, but I just can`t because I need to know what happens next.

If you haven`t tried Dexter yet I recommend checking it out. Trust me, it`s worth it.

Day 2 - Favourite Movie

This one is hard. I could probably give you my favourite movie by category.....

I guess my all time favourite movie is Grease

I've seen the movie a bunch of times, I've seen the play, I own the soundtrack. I pretty much grew up with this movie. I remember watching my older sister and her friends sing and dance to the soundtrack at sleepovers when I was WAY too young to understand. When I got a bit older, her, my mom and I used to do a Grease marathon yearly. So I guess its not just the movie that I like, but also the memories that I have surrounding it. I also secretly think that I relate better to that era. The clothes are adorable and the music is fantastic.

Since we are on the topic of movies.....C and I just recently saw Inception and Salt, so I figured I would give you my review of both.

Inception was AMAZING. It was so completely out there, and I was majorly confused for more than half of it, but by the end it all works itself out (kinda) and you are left blown away. I actually came home from watching it last week, and turned on the t.v and saw the preview for it playing. The voice over guy (lol?) states that you should see the movie twice, and I completely agree. There is just so much going on, and you spend so much time trying to sort out what is happening, that I'm sure I missed quite a bit. I think sitting down and watching it a second time would make it even better.

We saw Salt last night. My overall opinion was that it was alright. There was a lot of hype going into this movie, and I think it left me a little disappointed. The action scenes were good, and the storyline kept me guessing and interested, but the ending was weak. I'm not going to give it away, but it is obvious that the producers were anticipating large sales for this film, and wanted to leave their options open for a second one to make the same profits. I'm not a fan of cash grabs like that, and I find that it leaves the viewer with questions.

Overall both movies were good, but if your trying to decide between the two then go see Inception because it was 10,000 times better.

Day One: Favourtie Song:

This one is hard because my favourite song changes almost daily. This is why picking a wedding song has been so difficult. I guess my favourite song currently would have to be Taylor Swift's "Love Story." It's the only song that I will always turn up when it comes on.

So there you go, Day one complete! Hopefully I can actually keep this up!

Shoe Dilemma and Weekend Recaps

Hello All!

This weekend was SM's wedding (picture's are coming). I had stressed for weeks about what shoe's I was going to wear with my dress. I finally decided on borrowing these cuties from my mom

They were perfect. They looked amazing with the dress, were just the right height and I was super excited to put the whole outfit together. Then 5 days before the wedding, this happened:

Not good. So now I was back to panicking about what shoes to wear. C tried to save the day by cutting the back strap of both shoes. It actually worked and the shoes were still super cute, but they were also not quite as comfortable. Without the ankle strap they felt a little to high, I was a bit wobbly and the heel kept slipping. So instead I borrowed different black shoes from my sister, which worked, but were definitely not as cute. (I forgot to take a picture....sorry....I'll try to remember to update one when I get home.)

Now that I have updated you on the shoe stress leading up to the wedding, we can get to wedding updates.

The beautiful bride

C and I

Side Note: I am SO SO happy that I decided not to listen to V and my sister, because I absolutely LOVED this dress. It was comfortable and pretty, and I am already looking for an excuse to wear it again.

The fiance caught the garter.

C and I with our good friends V and S, who also recently got married.

The wedding was AMAZING. We had so much fun dancing with good friends, and catching up with some old ones. There was only one slight thing that put a damper on the whole night. One of the groomsmen for my wedding, WA, was invited to SM's wedding, and had responded that he was attending with his girlfriend. Well he not only didn't show, he also didn't call to let anyone know what was going on. Personally, I'm not surprised. WA is not that most reliable person in the world. He's pretty much only concerned with himself, and doesn't really think about the effects that his actions have on those around him. Despite this, I'm still furious. Too me this is probably the rudest thing that a person can do. The bride and groom are paying for you to attend their wedding, and as far as I'm concerned if you have no intention of attending then you should simply respond with a no, so they can make room for other people who probably want to attend. Needless to say, C and I are seriously reconsidering the presence of WA in our wedding party. I can't trust him, and I do not feel like stressing about whether or not he's going to decide to grace us with his presence on our wedding day.

Sunday was spent recovering from the wedding. I'm not going to lie, I had a bit too much wine the night before so I was a little cranky. I finally dragged my but out of bed around 6 to shower, get dressed and meet these people for a pick up soccer game and then dinner.

Yesterday I received an invitation for D & C's wedding in October. We all know how much I love weddings, so I am very excited. Now I need to decide whether or not I'm going to buy another dress....

Overall it was a great weekend, spent with Awesome friends. I can't wait to do it again!

A Much Needed Vacation

So I'm back after 5 glorious days looking at this:

And This:

And this:

And spending time with my favourite people. Like him:

and them:
It was honestly just what I needed. A relaxing weekend away with good friends. A break from work, and wedding planning and just day to day life.

But now I'm tanned and back to the real world. I spend the better part of yesterday catching up on all of your wonderful blogs, and trust me, there were a lot. But I think I am now officially caught up, and this is just a quick post to let you all know that I am alive.

I don't really have anything significant to say at the moment, just trying to get back into my day to day schedule. Doing things that don't include sleeping until 11, planing my butt on a deck chair right in the sun and reading the afternoon away, napping at 5 and then waking up to fatty foods an a drink to start the evening.

I miss vacation.

Wedding Frustrations

So I promised you a bunch of updates last week....and it never happened....

....but I'm doing it now. Better late than never....right????

July has turned out to be an INSANELY busy month. We leave on Thursday for 5 days at the cottage with a bunch of friends, so I have been going nuts trying to get together last minute details. I'm always tired and stressed in the weeks leading up to a trip, but it always ends up turning out fine.

On top of vacation stress, I've have been in complete wedding mode lately and stressing myself out even more (this is supposed to be relaxing summer vacation....right?) Remember me talking about frustrating wedding plans here? Well that had to do with my centerpieces, which I showed you here. They look fairly simple right? WRONG. These have been the most IMPOSSIBLE things to find in my entire life. Now granted, I could go out and buy them for about 30 dollars a set (only the vases, this does not cover the costs of the stones, flowers and candles that will be placed inside of them) but I am marrying the most budget conscious man ever, so if I did that I would probably no longer be having a wedding. I could also order them from the US....if I wanted to pay double the cost for the shipping (not going to happen).

So lets just say, I have spent the better part of a month searching the internet, checking prices, sending C endless texts about places we need to go, and getting more and more annoyed. I FINALLY found the perfect vases at Michaels, but they were still a tad over budget, but I knew if it came down to it, I would buy them because to be honest, I was sick of looking and was ready to move on to bigger and better things. I decided to look at one more place (Walmart), but I decided to leave C at home because I think he's pretty much sick of the whole centerpiece debate, so I dragged the bestest and V to Walmart last Friday, and wouldn't you know...they had them! They are EXACTLY the same set of vases as Michaels, but half the price. You are now looking at a happy bride. Hopefully I can get C to come with me tonight, to give his heartfelt approval (more a if-you-like-it-then-I-don't-really-care nod) then we can buy them and be done with this whole thing. I will post pictures as soon as I get them.

I'm thinking my photographer is next on the list. Hopefully this search goes smoother than both the centerpiece and venue hunts.

I know I promised some book and movie reviews, but I think a post on vacation and wedding stress is enough for one day. So I will save my Eclipse review for next time.

I'm Currently Addicted to...

Toddlers and Tiara's

Although the thought of spray tanning a 3 year old is extremely disturbing....

...thoughts??

And So You Think You Can Dance? Awesome.

I didn't blog about it last week but Alex's hip hop with Twitch was AMAZING. I was expecting a train wreck, but it was SO good. Favourite number of the season so far, hands down. I'm very upset that he is injured after that, and I'm hoping that he makes a quick recovery and is back next week.

Last nights episode was also really good. I'm at the point where I'm having trouble picking a favourite because they are all so good.

My favourite number last night was Lauren and Kent's contemporary. But they have been my favourites from the beginning, so seeing them dance in their style, together, was heaven for me.

I'm having a bit of bloggy writers block lately. I just don't feel motivated to post anything. I have wedding updates for you (very frustrating circumstances!) and of course we've been to see some movies that I could review, as well as some books that I've finished reading. But I just can't seem to force myself to do it. Maybe it's this heat wave that's making me so lazy!

Anyways, this was just a quick post to let you all know that I'm still alive, and that I do still sporadically blog. As well as to keep you all updated on how I keep my life exciting (Toddlers and Tiara's and SYTYCD......Awesome!)
Hopefully I will have you all fully updated by the end of next week
