Wedding Wenesday's

I've decided to limit my wedding ramblings to a specific day.

First up: Continued centerpiece frustrations.

I finally found the perfect vases for my centerpieces. They are exactly the right size, look exactly how I envisioned them and were right in what I consider to be a perfect price range. Your wondering where I found these perfect vases right??

Believe it or not I found them at Walmart. Here they are:

They are absolutely perfect. So you would think the rest would be easy right? Just go over to Walmart purchase a large quantity of shown vases, and be done with this whole nightmare.....right??.....wrong!

of course they don't have nearly enough stock of any of the sizes. So I'm told I need to contact a specific lady in the morning to inquire about ordering the quantity that I need. Fine. I purchase one full set so I know exactly what I'm talking about when I call. I pick up the phone at 9 this morning and start calling. Apparently the people who work at Walmart don't believe in answering phones until 11.....I'm slightly annoyed at this point...but ok....at least they finally got around to answering. I get transferred to crafts and give the lady that answered the phone the name of the person I was instructed to speak with. Apparently this lady only works from 8-2 each day, and at 11 had stepped out for a couple of hours.....fine....I leave my name and number and a message for her to call me. It's now 3:30...do you think she has called....nope!!!!! Now I am downright pissed. I'm on the verge of returning the above set and taking my business elsewhere, where I may have to pay more money for the same thing, but will at least receive adequate customer service.

If I do end up keeping these sets, the plan is to put white calla lilies in the large and medium sized vases

And a Gerbera Daisey in the smallest vase.

This is where the other problem comes in because I am having a ridiculously hard time finding the exact shade of purple that I want.

I'm guessing the colour closest to the one I'm picturing is either the one in the top right, or the one that is second last on the bottom right. But honestly I'd probably be happy if they were a shade darker. My MOH and I also hit a florist yesterday to find out if I can even get Gerbera Daisies in that particular shade, and whether it would be cheaper to use silk flowers instead of fresh. I am currently also waiting for a phone call back about all of this.

Hopefully I will have all of this sorted out by next Wednesday so I can move on to bigger and better things.

Wedding Frustrations

So I promised you a bunch of updates last week....and it never happened....

....but I'm doing it now. Better late than never....right????

July has turned out to be an INSANELY busy month. We leave on Thursday for 5 days at the cottage with a bunch of friends, so I have been going nuts trying to get together last minute details. I'm always tired and stressed in the weeks leading up to a trip, but it always ends up turning out fine.

On top of vacation stress, I've have been in complete wedding mode lately and stressing myself out even more (this is supposed to be relaxing summer vacation....right?) Remember me talking about frustrating wedding plans here? Well that had to do with my centerpieces, which I showed you here. They look fairly simple right? WRONG. These have been the most IMPOSSIBLE things to find in my entire life. Now granted, I could go out and buy them for about 30 dollars a set (only the vases, this does not cover the costs of the stones, flowers and candles that will be placed inside of them) but I am marrying the most budget conscious man ever, so if I did that I would probably no longer be having a wedding. I could also order them from the US....if I wanted to pay double the cost for the shipping (not going to happen).

So lets just say, I have spent the better part of a month searching the internet, checking prices, sending C endless texts about places we need to go, and getting more and more annoyed. I FINALLY found the perfect vases at Michaels, but they were still a tad over budget, but I knew if it came down to it, I would buy them because to be honest, I was sick of looking and was ready to move on to bigger and better things. I decided to look at one more place (Walmart), but I decided to leave C at home because I think he's pretty much sick of the whole centerpiece debate, so I dragged the bestest and V to Walmart last Friday, and wouldn't you know...they had them! They are EXACTLY the same set of vases as Michaels, but half the price. You are now looking at a happy bride. Hopefully I can get C to come with me tonight, to give his heartfelt approval (more a if-you-like-it-then-I-don't-really-care nod) then we can buy them and be done with this whole thing. I will post pictures as soon as I get them.

I'm thinking my photographer is next on the list. Hopefully this search goes smoother than both the centerpiece and venue hunts.

I know I promised some book and movie reviews, but I think a post on vacation and wedding stress is enough for one day. So I will save my Eclipse review for next time.

I have some catching up to do....

Hello all!

I have been such a crappy blogger! I'm not going to even try to make excuses this time. It's just pure laziness.

I guess I will start with a bit of a rant. My enrollment date for 4th year is tonight at 6:30, and it has caused me nothing but headaches thus far. I have learned from my three years at York, that they get pure joy out of making everything as complicated as humanly possible. We all make our own schedules yearly, and we all need to make sure we have all of the requirements per year to graduate, with little to no help from the faculty. Obviously, being that I do want to graduate in April of next year, this year I need to be 100% positive that everything is in order. You would think that a university would make this simple. Nope. We have a bunch of core courses that we need to have, along with several electives. Through this, we need to have a certain amount of credits from one area and a certain amount from another, without any crossovers or problems.

I have literally spent the past week sitting in front of my computer with a million tabs opened, as well as 2-3 course books on my lap, trying desperately to figure out what exactly I NEED to graduate. Frustrating? YES! I am finally at the point where I am 99.9% sure that I only need my fourth year credits to graduate, now I need to make all of them fit. York also makes this next to impossible. They put the core courses right in the middle of the day, covering a three hour slot. They also put most of the English credits in the same time slot, so literally anything remotely interesting, that is actually worth taking, doesn't fit. UGH! I'm at the point where I figure I will just wing it at 6:30 and whatever I get, I get.

Ok...Rant over.

I added the goodreads tab at the side of my blog today all by myself. Pretty proud of myself actually. I didn't have to argue with C to get it done.

Other than the great York war that I am in the middle of, I have been on the hunt for vases to help me create my perfect centerpieces and have come up with a few options.

This is basically the look I'm going for, but I think the smallest vase is not tall enough.

This is probably a bit more accurate

But these ones twist, so they are fun

Any opinions?

And my final piece of agenda for the day is to introduce you to some great finds for today:

Kayleigh, at my I-Do it yourself wedding is hosting an awesome monogram giveaway for all you brides out there, go check her out.

And Stacy at You Can't Take it With You has provided me with my entertainment for the day by posting site she runs with another blogger titled Letters from a pissed off bride. Definitely recommend checking this out.
