NKOTBSB

For Christmas every year my family and I do a secret santa to help ease the cost of an expensive time. This year, right around the time gifts were beginning to be bought I found out the New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys were going on tour. Together.

My sister was a huge New Kids fan, and I was a huge Backstreet Boy fan, so naturally this had to happen. Unfortunately I didn't have her name, but with some covert op recruitment I found out who did (my brother), hit him up for the money and got the tickets for the two of us to go with three of my best friends (and bridesmaids) from highschool.

It took some hefty planning as I needed to make sure none of my friends announced that we were going to the concert and kept it quiet (this included not putting it on Facebook) until we gave the tickets to my sister on Christmas day. I also had to enlist some heavy acting skills and pretend that I had zero interest in the concert and that the tickets were much to expensive to consider it even if I was.

The point of this background story? The concert was last Wednesday night and it was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. I had so much fun hanging out with my sister and my friends, something we don't get to do often anymore because of crazy schedules. On top of this, the concert was probably one of the best I have seen (and seeing as I have seen The Backstreet Boys something like 7 or 8 times, one of which we had front row seats..that's saying something.)

All I'm going to say is that these boys may be old but they still one hundred percent have it. They were jumping and running around the stage like they were still in their twenties and put on a high energy show that lasted about 2 hours. Amazing. Seriously, if you have a chance to get tickets to this tour, DO IT. It is worth every penny. We even came home and bought tickets to go see a second show in a town close by in August. It's that good. Trust me.

That being said, I will leave you with pictures.

Shoe Dilemma and Weekend Recaps

Hello All!

This weekend was SM's wedding (picture's are coming). I had stressed for weeks about what shoe's I was going to wear with my dress. I finally decided on borrowing these cuties from my mom

They were perfect. They looked amazing with the dress, were just the right height and I was super excited to put the whole outfit together. Then 5 days before the wedding, this happened:

Not good. So now I was back to panicking about what shoes to wear. C tried to save the day by cutting the back strap of both shoes. It actually worked and the shoes were still super cute, but they were also not quite as comfortable. Without the ankle strap they felt a little to high, I was a bit wobbly and the heel kept slipping. So instead I borrowed different black shoes from my sister, which worked, but were definitely not as cute. (I forgot to take a picture....sorry....I'll try to remember to update one when I get home.)

Now that I have updated you on the shoe stress leading up to the wedding, we can get to wedding updates.

The beautiful bride

C and I

Side Note: I am SO SO happy that I decided not to listen to V and my sister, because I absolutely LOVED this dress. It was comfortable and pretty, and I am already looking for an excuse to wear it again.

The fiance caught the garter.

C and I with our good friends V and S, who also recently got married.

The wedding was AMAZING. We had so much fun dancing with good friends, and catching up with some old ones. There was only one slight thing that put a damper on the whole night. One of the groomsmen for my wedding, WA, was invited to SM's wedding, and had responded that he was attending with his girlfriend. Well he not only didn't show, he also didn't call to let anyone know what was going on. Personally, I'm not surprised. WA is not that most reliable person in the world. He's pretty much only concerned with himself, and doesn't really think about the effects that his actions have on those around him. Despite this, I'm still furious. Too me this is probably the rudest thing that a person can do. The bride and groom are paying for you to attend their wedding, and as far as I'm concerned if you have no intention of attending then you should simply respond with a no, so they can make room for other people who probably want to attend. Needless to say, C and I are seriously reconsidering the presence of WA in our wedding party. I can't trust him, and I do not feel like stressing about whether or not he's going to decide to grace us with his presence on our wedding day.

Sunday was spent recovering from the wedding. I'm not going to lie, I had a bit too much wine the night before so I was a little cranky. I finally dragged my but out of bed around 6 to shower, get dressed and meet these people for a pick up soccer game and then dinner.

Yesterday I received an invitation for D & C's wedding in October. We all know how much I love weddings, so I am very excited. Now I need to decide whether or not I'm going to buy another dress....

Overall it was a great weekend, spent with Awesome friends. I can't wait to do it again!

A Much Needed Vacation

So I'm back after 5 glorious days looking at this:

And This:

And this:

And spending time with my favourite people. Like him:

and them:
It was honestly just what I needed. A relaxing weekend away with good friends. A break from work, and wedding planning and just day to day life.

But now I'm tanned and back to the real world. I spend the better part of yesterday catching up on all of your wonderful blogs, and trust me, there were a lot. But I think I am now officially caught up, and this is just a quick post to let you all know that I am alive.

I don't really have anything significant to say at the moment, just trying to get back into my day to day schedule. Doing things that don't include sleeping until 11, planing my butt on a deck chair right in the sun and reading the afternoon away, napping at 5 and then waking up to fatty foods an a drink to start the evening.

I miss vacation.

I have a Bridesmaid Dress!

...No not for my wedding...lets not get ahead of ourselves.

I have mentioned in the past that I have been asked to be a bridesmaid for a friend of mine (V) wedding. The wedding is May 1st, 2010, and V is a little less organized than I am. The wedding is now close to three months away and we only ordered our dresses on Sunday, they will arrive, unaltered, the beginning of April, leaving us only about three weeks for alterations. Needless to say, I would be panicking, and I plan on learning from this experience and leaving myself lots of time. But V apparently works better under pressure and is not worried at all.

Anyways, back to the topic on hand. Actually ordering the dress has made me much more excited for this wedding. I guess now that I actually have a dress to wear makes it all more real.

So this is the closest image of our actual dress that I can find.

The top is slightly different, and ours has straps, and the colour is Lilac, not gold.

A far as bridesmaid dresses go, I actually really like them. They are pretty, the top is fitted so it sucks in all the problem areas that drive me crazy on a daily basis. The colour I'm slightly concerned about, only because I am so deathly pale, I fear wearing Lilac may make me sick.

But all in all I am happy with V's decision.

Help!

Ok so I have this friend....if you want to call her that....

Background story: I have known her (I'm going to refer to her as "N") since I was seven or eight. As kids we were best friends, and did everything together. We lived on the same street, went to the same school, same house at night, sleep overs on weekends, basically inseparable. Of course this story changes, I moved, we went to different high schools and as expected grew apart. We managed to hold on to a distant friendship for a while over internet, phone, occasional visits but over the last couple of years we barely spoke. She has met "C" only a handful of times, and we have both developed a much closer group of separate friends.

Here's where the advice is needed. I recently found out the "N" is pregnant. She did not call to tell me, but in her defense I didn't bother to call her when "C" proposed. I found out about her pregnancy through my sister, who was told by "N's" mother. I saw her for the first time on Halloween, when I was out trick or treating with my nieces. Needless to say it was awkward. She was shocked about the engagement and I was surprised to see my former best friend very pregnant but I figured it was over for another year, when we would repeat the awkward updates of our lives. I was wrong. Today I received an invitation in the mail for her baby shower. I was pretty taken aback. We don't talk and as far as I'm concerned the friendship is as good as over. My sister and mother were both invited, so I'm going, and I'm fine with that

My issue is, after long and careful analyzing, I decided that we were no longer close enough friends and did not include her on my wedding guest list. Now I am getting conflicting advice. Some people tell me that because she still considers us close enough to invite me to the baby shower, I should include her on my wedding list...

....What do you guys think? Do I invite "N" to the wedding just because she invited me to her baby shower?

This is what I do when the Fiance tells me to be productive.....

So it is my last official day of summer. Tomorrow I go back to York University, and back to the day to day stress of school. I'm actually kind of excited. I'm the type of person that needs to be busy or else I go completely stir crazy, and being stuck at home with nothing to do doesn't help. So I believe I was driving the fiance crazy with the endless text messages while he was at work, so he told me to do something productive with my last day off, and here we are!

So I figure lets give an update on my oh so interesting life since the last time I blogged.....

I believe we can start with the birthdays! My birthday was the 28th of August and I turned 24 and the fiance turned 26 on the 31st, so it was a bit crazy but lots of fun. He got me Britney Spears tickets as a end of school/birthday present so we went there on the 20th. On a side note, I LOVE Britney Spears! She reminds me of my highschool years, and I think she really gets the raw end of the deal with the media and such. But yeah, I love her and I'm not afraid to admit it. So the concert was slightly out of town and we had to drive there, and of course, the concert falls on the one day where tornado's decide to land in various places all over the GTA. I'm Canadian, I'm not accostomed to things like tornado's, so naturally, this scares the crap out of me. I did not get the pleasure of seeing an actual tornado, but we were driving in the biggest thunder storm I have ever been in my life.

The above picture is out of the fiance's car window on the drive up, at about 5:30 in the evening. So yeah, despite the fact that the fiance insists that he is a good driver and that we were perfectly fine, I was terrified. But in any case we survived, I got to see Britney (which was AMAZING by the way....well worth the money that fiance paid to take me!)

Next were the family parties, a must in both of our families. On my actual birthday "C" came over and brought me pretty flowers..........and then took me shopping (spending more money) and then back to my house for BBQ and cake, not really all that interesting or worth writing about. Saturday was the exhibition, a tradition for our birthdays with the fiance's family. Again lots of fun, but not overly interesting.

Last Sunday was the friends birthday party (we did it on a Sunday because Monday is a holiday here). So we had people over for a BBQ and then went to a club afterward. My friends, being the loving people that they are proceeded to get me smashed, which is not difficult because I don't drink well. Anyways it was a fun night of drinking and dancing. nd of course, I got presents (are you getting that I LOVE to get presents?) Not going to show them all but here is what my bestest bought for me:

Hence why she is the bestest!

Anyways, I guess this has wasted enough of my day and I should probably find something actually productive to do on my last day off!
